If your goal is to move more cows through the parlor without the expense of adding or updating costly equipment, then you should consider switching to a single-cycle CIP cleaner. This simple change saves minutes that really add up over the course of weeks and months without sacrificing milk quality.

A single-cycle cleaner combines the detergent and acid phases of the wash cycle, essentially eliminating a step and saving you precious time. Before you make the switch, however, make sure that the single-cycle CIP cleaner you choose meets the following criteria:

• Is it effective at removing iron deposits? If the product doesn’t work on iron, you may face problems in the future.

• Does it control teat sealant residue? This waxy buildup is a problem for many single-cycle detergents.

• Does it keep bacteria in check without shocking the system? If you routinely need to take this step, you won’t save nearly as much time or money.
